- Clawdy is a free, open-source AI cursor assistant for macOS. It lives in the menu bar. Hold Control and Option, ask a question out loud, and it looks at your screen, answers in a spoken voice, and moves a red claw cursor to the button or field it is talking about.
- Is Clawdy an open-source alternative to Clicky?
- Yes. Clawdy started as a fork of the open-source Clicky project, which is MIT licensed, and was rebuilt to run on the Claude Code or Codex CLI you already use. Clawdy is an independent project and is not affiliated with Clicky.
- Does Clawdy need an API key? What does it cost?
- No model API key is needed, and the app is free. Clawdy sends your question to the Claude Code or Codex CLI you are already signed into, so usage is billed to your existing subscription. An ElevenLabs key is optional, only if you want an ElevenLabs voice instead of the built-in one.
- Which AI does Clawdy use?
- Whichever you pick: Anthropic's Claude Code or OpenAI's Codex, through the command-line tool installed on your Mac. Clawdy is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic or OpenAI.
- Which Macs does Clawdy run on?
- macOS 14.2 or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
- Is it private? What runs locally?
- Speech-to-text runs on your Mac with Apple's on-device recognition, and the built-in voice also runs on your Mac. To answer, Clawdy sends screenshots of your screen and your question to Claude Code or Codex, the same way those tools handle anything else you ask them.
- Can I continue a conversation in the terminal?
- Yes. Clawdy sessions can be resumed in the claude or codex CLI, so you can pick up a conversation there with its full context.
